Royal Navy raising £1100 while supporting the area 7 walk

Sunday 15th May saw five of our members take part in the scheduled area 7 sponsored walk.

Setting off at 8am sharp, we were mustered and given the relevant safety instructions along with most worryingly the number for the man armed with a defibrillator!

The route was set to walk between 4 of the Masonic Centres in area 7.  Starting from Dover, the seafront route was set to take in the beautiful views (and steep climb!)  across the White Cliffs leading via South foreland light house to the centre at St Margaret’s.  Here, we continued through Walmer and the adjoining golf club and descended into Kingsdown where we joined David Graham, the provincial grand secretary for a short pitstop at the Zetland Arms and welcome refreshment.

After a short break, change of socks and in most cases the application of some blister plasters, we headed through Deal, across the seafront and taking our lives in our hands across the fairways of Royal St Georges golf club, we strolled into Sandwich a little after 2pm.

In total the distance was a little over 16 miles and around 20 members from various lodges across Kent took part in the challenge with most completing the whole stretch.

Each lodge was raising their own funds which would go towards the 2025 festival total and thanks to the ruthless nature of our charity steward Nigel Mann, the 5 members of Royal navy lodge raised almost £1100 in sponsorship.
