Ladies Night Raises £1500 for SEKC Breathe Easy

In Royal Navy’s social calendar, November means just one thing – Ladies Night !!

This special occasion allows the members of Royal Navy to publicly recognise, and thank the real managerial talent within the Lodge. Those diligent organisers, social secretaries, taxi drivers, finders of cufflinks and everything else that ensures that we – as members of Royal Navy 429 – turn up at the right place, at the right time, and properly attired.

Our Ladies !!

One hundred and twenty attendees turned out on a cold November evening for our annual Ladies Festival. The Ladies looked amazing, gowns shimmered, dresses sparkled and surely the height of some of those heels must have induced a degree of vertigo? All I can say is that every lady in the room looked absolutely stunning, and that every man must have been beyond proud to escort his better half to our event.

Whilst I mention the men, there was more than one gentleman in the room looking quite red faced (almost purple in fact) wondering how his dress suit could have shrunk whilst simply hanging in a wardrobe for a year?

This said, their was no shortage of merriment, a fabulous dinner was served, the wine flowed, and chatter & laughter filled the room.

As is customary, a raffle was held to raise funds for good causes. On this occasion, the charity was South East Kent & Coastal Breathe Easy – a charity that assists those with respiratory illnesses such as Emphysema, COPD and Asthma. This organisation is especially dear to the Lady of the evening – Mrs Samantha Purcell, and over £1,500 was raised on the night so as to support the excellent work that this charity does to assist the sufferers of these illnesses.

Once the plates were cleared, the music played and the dancing started, thankfully the “Strictly” judges were absent, but had we awarded marks for joy and delight – everyone present would have scored a 10.

Our thanks to the management and staff at the Pavilion, particularly those in the kitchen, as well as the waiting staff who truly pulled out all of the stops and made our night as special as it was.

We look forward to doing it all again next year.
