A late Saturday in June was the annual Quiz night versus the Old Ruymian Lodge at the Ramsgate Masonic Centre.
Having won for the last three years, Royal Navy lodge went into the contest brimming with confidence. This was enhanced by the fact that due to some severe diary clashes, the Old Ruymian lodge were only able to muster up one team and were facing seven tables filled with Royal Navy members, prospective joining members and guests.
The quiz was prepared by our own current WM, Peter Rodd who is a member of both lodges and so had to remain neutral! Ably assisted by his wife, Maggie, (and announcing that the quizmaster was always right), Peter produced 8 rounds of questions and of course the obligatory table quiz.
It was almost a case of quality over quantity as The OR team went into the last round a whisker behind the leaders. Holding their nerve, Team Richer romped to victory with the OR table in a close second place. Pictured are own Peter Rodd being handed the trophy by Terry McGlone, the secretary of OR Lodge. Team Richer won Easter eggs as their prize while the wooden spoon contest was hotly contested between Team Mills & Team Mann.
There was the usual raffle and fundraising and the event raised £480 which was split between both lodges ladies committees.
